How much tea do I use to make a cup of tea?
Generally you would use a teaspoon per cup of tea, however, cups of tea come in many different sizes; from an 8 oz. to 14oz. As well people have different tastes, so start with one teaspoon and see how it tastes for you. Vary the amount and steeping time to your liking.

Are green tea and black tea related?
Yes, they come from the same plant, Camellia sinensis.
Tea leaves are picked while they are green by hand or by machine. Green tea is then steamed and dried. Black tea goes through a process of fermentation facilitated by  bruising or pan-frying, and then dried.

Is there much Caffeine in Tea?
Yes, there is caffeine in tea, however tea also contains other elements such as polyphenols that counteract the caffeine. That is why when you drink tea can be “alert” and “mellow” whereas when you drink Coffee, you can be “wired”.

Does Rooibos tea have health benefits?
Yes, and everyday there are more benefits discovered. Japanese scientists have discovered that Rooibos contains “more” antioxidants than green tea. Rooibos also contains many minerals such as Iron, Potassium, Zinc, Magnesium, and others.
Rooibos is commonly recommended to help combat sleeping disorders (insomnia), stomach problems (colic), intestine irregularity, and headaches.

Can I brew loose-leaf tea more than once?
Yes, and you are encourage to do so as much as possible. Because loose-leaf is of a higher quality it will continue to release flavor and health benefits for at least three steepings. Increase the steeping time accordingly to achieve your desired taste.

What is the best way to steep tea?
There are many schools of thought on this question, generally tea will benefit from having as much space to expand as possible. A round teapot made of porcelain, glass, or clay will be the ideal vessel. If you are making a cup only, then consider a strainer basket or a mesh ball. Remember, one teaspoon per cup and keep in mind that the “less is more” philosophy really applies to tea.

 

 

What is White Tea?
White tea is in essence “baby” green tea. Good quality white tea is the top 2 leaves and a bud of the stem of the plant. When you see this tea, you can clearly distinguish that the leaves have a “fuzzy” white layer very much like “baby lamb ear”.
White tea has 3 times more antioxidants that green tea. It is extremely mild and very delicate. It should be steeped at a low temperature of 170 to 180 F. to preserve the health benefits..

What is a Tea Cake?
Cake tea or Puer tea is one of the many classic teas from China. It is widely drunk in Tibet. Many people around the world use Puer tea as diet tea because it helps with the burning of body fat. This tea is picked green and force-dried almost totally dry, then it is cooked and shaped into cakes or nests (toucha). Puer tea is the only tea that gets better with age, very much like wine. You can have 3 year, 5year, 10year puer. 

Does tea make you loose weight?
I truly believe tea can help you lose weight. Tea provides much needed vitamins, minerals, and water to our bodies. Many times when we feel hungry, in reality, we are really thirsty. By having tea, you are providing liquid nourishment to your body with a dose of “good stuff” and no calories at all.

At the same time, some teas like Puer, Oolong, and Matcha provide high amounts or fiber and fat burning elements to help fight weight gain. But remember, you must drink tea everyday to have an effect. Try not to add sugar or milk; if you don’t like the tea you are drinking. Find another tea you like to drink, because if you don’t like the tea you are not going to drink it! Start with a tea you like, a green flavored tea (like our Pineapple Passion) for example, and slowly move to a purer tea, like matcha.

Is tea good for everyone?
Generally tea can be drunk be everybody. Even pregnant women are encouraged to drink one cup of green tea everyday to balance their system. Consult your physician if you happen to be hyper sensitive to caffeine, or are taking medications.

What has more vitamin C? Orange juice, or Green tea?
Green tea!
So consider drinking green tea in the mornings instead of your orange juice. You don’t get the acidity plus you get a small boost of caffeine!!!

Is tea good for hangovers?
Yes, because it provides a large amount of vitamin C, fiber, caffeine, and polyphenol it helps to hydrate the body, boost it with a shoot of vitamins, increase blood circulation to the head and gentle to the stomach…..Something to keep in mind for next time?
